The death toll due to Covid-19 rose to over 500 and the number of cases climbed crossed 15,000 in the country on Saturday, according to the Union Health Ministry. The coronavirus has killed more than 100,000 people in Europe, nearly two thirds of the overall global death toll. Stay with TOI for live updates:

There are a total of 1893 positive cases in Delhi including 186 cases from yesterday. We have got 42,000 rapid testing kits, a trial run being done at LNJP hospital. Our target is to do 42,000 tests in one week's time" 


Coronavirus deaths have surged past 1,00,000 in Europe, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the 1,57,539 fatalities worldwide.
A day before India is set to see an increase in the list of services that will be remain functional, ICMR reported a huge spike in coronavirus infections - 2,154 persons (the highest in a single day) - on Saturday. Currently, India has seen more than 15,600 cases of COVID-19 of which over 12,000 are active. At least 520 people have died till date.


The number of coronavirus cases has reached 3,648 in Maharashtra, the most affected state both in terms of infections and deaths. At least 26 Indian Navy personnel in Mumbai have tested positive for the viral infection. The personnel are part of the INS Angre, a logistics and support facility of the Western Naval Command.
World update on coronavirus: The worldwide death toll from the novel coronavirus pandemic rose to 160,784, according to a tally from official sources compiled by Worldometer. More than 2,332,456 declared cases have been registered in 193 countries and territories since the epidemic first emerged in China in December.
